Germs are those tiny little life forms that we call "bacteria" and microorganisms. Besides these life forms, we also have germs in our feces known as viruses, but these little guys do not qualify as life forms. They qualify as DNA structures because of their simple structures. Simple as they may be, they can become deadly for some of us at the wrong time in our lives and while in the wrong place.

We have zero germs at birth as we complete our short trip down mom's fallopian tube. Once expelled into the harsh world of gravity and sharp, bumpy stuff, we begin to collect germs on our skin and finally inside of our tiny bodies. At this time we have no feces inside, but we may have carried some of mom's feces on our skin for a few moments; a few moments is ore than enough time for feces germs to migrate to our brand new skin. We have our own feces contamination only moments after birth than, and if we're to survive, we will have immunities for some of the nasty germs in this fecal contamination.

Both bacteria and viruses begin invading our stomachs as well as our blood supply. Since mom and her mom and our dad and his dad may have carried immunities to harmful germs, wether bacteria or viruses, we're good for 90 years or more of built-in defense, unless; Unless something happens to our immune system.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) qualifies as an immune system inhibitor, and this means HIV will stop our own defense system from fighting invading germs like the flu.

In one of its variations the Bible uses a euphemism for feces which is quote covering one's feet." When we talk about using a reference room to defecate we talk about a "public convenience" or "water closet." We may even talk about "restroom" or "powder room" if not the "men's room" or "women's room."

Whatever euphemism we choose to use, it comes back to the same thing feces.

In Hong Kong, pig feces is used as manure along with other sewage and is channeled into nearby mangrove swamps. Here it serves to fertilize water and thereby aids the local floor and Barnett, plants and animals.

In Singapore local governments find people $150 if they failed to flush the toilet after its use. Fortunately for the Singapore residents, they have an annual rainfall many inches per year. The water helps to flush out the feces and send it elsewhere. In Japan, at least 30% of the homes are connected to sewers. Many of these homes use flush cisterns equipped with "small flesh" and "large" quote levers. This helps to conserve water. Obviously, a small flesh is for urine in a large flesh for feces cleanup.

Then we have San Diego, California. The county gave resident $75 world toilets so these could be replaced with well-designed and economical Kohler model toilets. Kohler toilets account for $1.8 billion in sales yearly. They hold the market for first flush of water and sewage toilet.

A child that one week old may contain as many as 10 to 100 billion bacterial cells program. Most of the species are known as bifidobacteriium, which become the common bacteria of normal adult humans.

Healthy human feces may be semisolid or compacted and it accumulates in the colon while water content becomes absorbed in the small intestine. Normally less cylindrical our feces may become tiny little balls or ribbons because of "irritable bowel syndrome." At one time Dr. John Harvey Kellogg (yes, brother of the famous Dr. John Harvey Kellogg and inventor of Kellogg cornflakes) suggested that humans should have five bowel movements per day. This would seem excessive for most of us. Although, vegetarians do have more bowel movements and predatory eaters.

Because constipation is a common and sometimes parallel condition following tension and stress, we know that a good reason to avoid stress is constipation itself. Constipation leads to headaches and it also allows toxins to remain in the body for prolonged periods of time. Germs may continue in the digestive system during prolonged constipation and will result in a regeneration of even more germs.

Healthy human feces are compacted and accumulated in the colon after much of their water content has been absorbed in the small intestine. They are usually more or less cylindrical, although in a condition known as “irritable bowel syndrome” they may be pelletlike and emerge as small balls or ribbons. They are usually voluntarily expelled under suitable and convenient conditions. Early in this century, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, a brother of the eminent cerealist Will Keith Kellogg, recommended five bowel movements a day, which generally necessitated frequent colonic irrigation, although most people nowadays would consider this excessive. Repeated voiding in inappropriate places is called “encopresis.” Constipation is common, especially under conditions of tension or stress. In some people it tends to induce headaches, possibly caused by toxins accumulated in the lower gut and transmitted through the bloodstream to the brain.

Henry James wrote about his intestinal problems, but he didn't need to. Since 1909, when Sir Arthur Hurst published his monograph on the subject, the medical literature has burgeoned: a more recent review lists 599 references (Devroede, 1993). A survey by anonymous questionnaire of five thousand American naval personnel (Sweeney et al., 1993) indicated the following: “When … defined as no bowel movement for greater than 3 days, 3.9% … are constipated when in their home environment, 6% when aboard ship and 30.2% while in the field. When defined by … hard stools, painful defecation, and bleeding … the [respective] incidences are 7.2%, 10.4% and 34.1%.”

One wonders how typical such proportions are among people of other nations, other professions, other circumstances, etc. It has been suggested that Christopher Columbus and his crew might have alleviated constipation, consequent on their generally desiccated diets, by their daily allocation of 2.5 liters of Spanish red wine. It was by terminal constipation, if we are to believe Balzac, that one Sister Petronille strove to achieve canonization, as Saint Catherine of Siena had done in an earlier epoch. Innumerable remedies, including enemas and lubricant suppositories of various kinds, have been proposed and compounded to cure human constipation. We are told that in a single year the French king Louis XV was subjected to more than two hundred purges and a comparable number of enemas. (Evidently not all of his time was spent on the throne.)

Seeds such as those of psyllium (Plantago afra) and chia (Salvia spp.), with mucilaginous coatings of xylan or other carbohydrates not subject to breakdown in our digestive systems, are among the most effective. So, too, are remedies based on herbs containing mildly toxic
